Community Fibre Partnership

Hale Parish Council - Community Fibre Partnership Proposal To Deliver Full Fibre

Broadband to Residential and Business Premises in Hale.

Your Parish Council is sponsoring a group scheme to provide Full Fibre Broadband to all homes and businesses in our village. Working with Openreach a Community Partnership Scheme is being designed to provide the required fibre cabling direct to each participating property.

Funding to support the scheme is being made available through the Government’s Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme and Hampshire County Council’s Broadband programme.

Rural premises with broadband speeds of less than 100Mbps can use vouchers worth £1,500 per home and up to £3,500 for each small to medium-sized business (SME) to support the cost of installing new fast and reliable connections. Hampshire CC will double the value of residential vouchers making £3,000 in total available for each residential property.

The Parish Council’s aim is to develop a fully funded scheme by having as many premises as possible join the group scheme. Home and business owners will not be entering into a contract or formal commitment by including their property in the scheme at this stage and will remain free to withdraw their application. A decision to proceed will not be made until Openreach have confirmed indicative costs and it is known that the scheme costs do not exceed the funding available.

Further information, a Q&A sheet and an application form are attached and will be delivered through the doors of those addresses applicable shortly.

Please note that the closing date for receipt of applications is 26 January 2021.

We hope that all householders and businesses that currently do not have full fibre broadband available will participate in the scheme. The benefits for the village and our community will be significant.
