Over the Christmas and New Year bank holidays, there are some changes to recycling and rubbish collection days in the New Forest district. The changes to rubbish and recycling collections for Christmas 2021 and the New Year 2022 are: Black rubbish sacks and clear recycling sacks: collections due on Monday 27 December 2021 will be collected on Monday 3 January 2022. Glass box: collections due on Monday 27 December 2021 will be collected on Saturday 8 January 2022. Garden waste: there will be no garden waste collections between Monday 27 December 2021 and Friday 7 January 2022.

All other collections remain unchanged.

Residents can check their recycling and rubbish collection days at newforest.gov.uk/findyourcollection

Garden waste customers can view the latest information for the service, including their next scheduled date for collection, at newforest.gov.uk/gardenwaste

Every household will receive a leaflet week commencing Monday 13 December with full details of revised collection dates, Christmas tree drop-off points, plus, information on what can and cannot be recycled in the district.

The council can recycle plastic bottles, aerosols, cans, tins, cardboard and paper, including greeting cards, from clear sack collections. If gift wrapping paper cannot be reused, it should be added to the black rubbish sack. The majority of wrapping paper cannot be recycled because it is mixed with plastic or foil. Any cartons, foil, plastic pots, tubs, trays, film and bags, should also be added to black sacks.
